Maine Coons are cats that even dog lovers enjoy and with good reason. They are easy going, human orientated, sociable, playful and affectionate. They do well with other pets and children. They like to be part of the family, will play fetch, and enjoy tummy rubs. Maine Coons are truly unique characters in the cat world! 

Maine Coons have several physical traits (in addition to their size) that distinguishes them from your everyday house cat. They have lynx tipped ears, large fur-lined paws, a huge duster brush like tail, a very angular muzzle, and water resistant fur. 

The fact that the Maine Coon can get to a weight that is more than double that of the average domestic cat is impressive. However, it is the LENGTH of the cat that really sets it apart. They are amongst the longest cats in the world. 

These cats are smart! They have a desire to please their owners and become very bonded to them. Because of those attributes, they respond to training. 

Maine Coons come in an endless variety of colors and patterns.  Solid colors include white, black, blue, cream, and red. Patterns include tabby tortoiseshell, smoke, shaded, bicolor, and particolor. 

Natural selection in a harsh environment and a tale spanning continents and centuries makes this feline’s fascinating evolution one worth researching.
